Steven Yeun to explore the darker side of fatherhood in Pagans

Since his breakout role as Glenn in The Walking Dead, Steven Yeun has become one of the sturdiest and most engaging actors working today. From his enigmatic turn in Lee Chang-dong’s underseen thriller Burning to his combustible pairing with Ali Wong in the first season of Netflix’s anthology Beef; from the soulfulness of Minari to his indefatigable voice work as burgeoning superhero Mark Grayson in Prime Video’s Invincible, the career gauntlet Yeun is navigating has been awesome to watch. We’re running just a segment of his resume here, and we’ve already cracked a pretty solid marathon.

A new chapter in Yeun’s career begins with Pagans, a new “emotional, horrifying, and humorous” series from Netflix in which the Academy Award nominee (Minari) will star and executive produce with Drew Goddard’s Goddard Textiles and showrunner Joshua Zetumer (FX’s Say Nothing). Show details are scant, but we know Yeun will play Gus, a recent widower and single dad whose “strained” relationship with his daughter “evolves into something far more sinister,” per the logline from Netflix, which wraps things up with: “Pagans is a show that unearths all our darkest thoughts about family.”

Even from this distance, it looks like Steven Yeun’s hot streak will continue apace.
