Stevie Nicks to twirl across the U.S. on her upcoming solo tour
Stevie Nicks is throwing all of her best scarves and shawls into a designer trunk as she prepares to embark on a solo U.S. tour in support of her 2014 album, 24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault. “I just woke up one morning and said I have two years off before Fleetwood Mac comes knocking on my door [for another tour],” she explained to The New York Times today. “Why would I want to sit around and do nothing?”
The 68-year-old singer-songwriter has maintained a prolific solo career outside her four-decade-long stint with Fleetwood Mac, releasing eight albums of her own alongside the seven she did with the band. This unaccompanied tour—beginning less than a year after Mac wrapped up its On With The Show world tour last November—will give her a chance to recharge creatively after being a member of an often-tumultuous team. “In my band, there is no arguing. I am the boss,” she told The Times. “My solo career is probably the reason Fleetwood Mac is still together in 2016, because I was always happy to leave Fleetwood Mac, and I was always happy to come back, too.”
