Stranger Things adds two new players to the cast

Season two of Stranger Things is already in development, with fans clamoring for more of the Upside Down while resigning themselves to no more Barb. If you were paying attention during the renewal announcement, you might have already deduced that the flashing headlines correspond to episode titles for the new season. But those phrases—which include “MadMax,” “The Storm,” “The Pollywog,” and “The Lost Brother”—didn’t actually reveal much about the plot. (Though “The Boy Who Came Back To Life” has already been determined to be about Will, and “The Pollywog” has got to be about that gross slug.)

Luckily, there’s some new casting info out that there could shine some light on the direction of the story, which will run for nine episodes in season two. According to The Hollywood Reporter, fan favorite and Jean-Ralphio’s dad Steve Harrington and Will Byers will be back for another Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Joe Keery and Noah Schnapp have both been bumped up to series regulars, and they’ll be joined in the cast by Sadie Sink (The Americans, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and the new Red Ranger, Dacre Montgomery.

Sink will play a tomboy named Max with a “complicated history and is generally suspicious of those around her.” And Montgomery has been cast as her “hyper-confident and edgy” older brother Billy, who drives a Camaro and will probably give Steve a run for his money. Sink’s character is probably the “mad” one referred to in one of the new episode titles, and it’s possible her brother’s temperament will make him “The Storm” or “The Lost Brother.”

Though this report teases more info about new players than old, the Duffer brothers assure fans that the expanded universe of season two will not forget the defeaters of the Demogorgon. There will be even more Stranger Things in 2017.
