Talking about rape and dismemberment "doesn't interest" Tyler, The Creator anymore
Odd Future became one of the biggest music stories of 2011 after the L.A. hip-hop collective was hyped as the latest in a long line of provocateurs intent on shaking up the system, man. "Kill People, Burn Shit, Fuck School," in other words. These guys were supposed to be dangerous, and if you weren't on board with that, you were either lame or old. But as the year draws to a close, Odd Future (or the group's handlers) apparently realized that it can play "Oops, I Crapped My Pants" with its media enablers for only so long before it becomes a tired shtick, and then finally an artistic and professional dead end. So now we have things like this Spin cover story, which bends over backward to show how cute and cuddly these kids are. Because you see, these guys aren't dangerous, and if you're not on board with that, you're either lame or old.
