While Johnson spent the lead-up to Swift’s appearance teasing herself for her widely publicized penchant for dating so-so musicians, it was up to her award-winning, universally lauded singer-songwriter best friend to provide some late-night birthday solace. And if Johnson had to endure some stiffly delivered jokes about her habit of routinely showing up to Swift’s house in the middle of the night with an empty wine bottle asking for unpaid therapy, well, what are friends for? Upon Swift’s entrance (listen for the swelling applause at 2:30 in the video above if you’re not here for the comedy stylings of the star of Madame Web), Johnson called the singer “literally my therapist,” to which Swift responded that, no, Johnson just likes to overshare on her couch, while Swift occasionally chimes in with a timely, “Damn, that’s crazy.”
While Johnson’s boozy memories of Swift tucking her in in her no-doubt lavish but tasteful guest room are belied by Swift explaining that their nights invariably end with a Pedialyte and a ride home with the Swift-Kelce security team, that still sounds pretty comfy, actually. And despite the rich and full life one imagines awaits a Taylor Swift in New York City, the singer apparently stuck around all through Johnson’s so-so hosting stint (Johnson did get to show off a vagina gun) right up until the goodnights, when she again walked onstage to give Johnson a big birthday cake. Presumably one the pair will either share with the cast at the afterparty or enjoy together on a birthday cruise in Swift’s waiting limo, just two famous best buddies, two forks, and a night on the town.
