Ted to smoke animated bongs for new Peacock series

Seth MacFarlane will once again voice the swear-happy teddy bear.

Ted to smoke animated bongs for new Peacock series

In a conversation with The A.V. Club last year, BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg lamented that he hadn’t “seen the animation boom that I would’ve liked or hoped for” in the wake of the show’s 2020 finale. He’s trying to fix that himself with a new series called Long Story Short for Netflix, but if that sounds a bit too cerebral for you, Peacock has another option: animated Ted. Yep, Seth MacFarlane’s swear-loving teddy bear is back… again. MacFarlane previously reprised the role for a live-action Peacock series last year. That series has also been renewed for a second season, so Ted fans will have lots of options in the coming months. Maybe MacFarlane is trying to break the record for the actor who says the most curse words on a single streamer.

While it’s undeniably a lot of Ted, the move to animate the vulgar bear does make sense. The first Ted series was really, really popular. Besides, MacFarlane pioneered stalwart adult animation offerings like Family Guy and American Dad! (with Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman), so this is hardly new territory for him. Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan are also signed on to executive produce; the duo previously worked on Modern Family and animated series King Of The Hill, as well as live-action Ted

No story details have been revealed for the new show (working title, Ted: The Animated Series) as of this writing, but Deadline reports that it will be a sequel to the first two Ted films. (Live-action Ted is a prequel.) Mark Wahlberg is also set to reprise his role as John, as will Amanda Seyfried as Sam and Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn. New additions to the voice cast include Kyle Mooney as Apollo and Liz Richman as Ruth. And if all of that isn’t enough Ted for you, you can also check out a first look at the new series here.
