Seth MacFarlane returns to his roots with Ted: The Animated Series first look

The Ted cinematic universe is expanding. It all started with the 2012 box-office hit Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg as 35-year-old John Bennett, a man with a dysfunctional friendship with his childhood teddy bear (voiced by Seth MacFarlane), which came to life after he made a wish. Then came the 2015 sequel, Ted 2, and the prequel series that aired on Peacock between 2024 and 2026. But the foul-mouthed teddy bear’s story isn’t over yet. Today, Peacock released a first-look teaser for Ted: The Animated Series and announced the show will debut on December 17 with eight episodes, with additional episodes streaming sometime in 2027. The animated series feels like a natural—and obvious—progression for the Ted franchise, given MacFarlane’s success with the sitcoms Family Guy and American Dad!, both of which have aired for more than 20 years. Based on the synopsis, John and Ted sound just as co-dependent as ever in Ted: The Animated Series.
