The Avengers continues to take your money, their money, all the money
Don't let Joss Whedon's humility fool you: The Avengers is huge and only getting huger, yesterday surpassing the $400 million domestic benchmark in just two weeks at the box office. That's a new record to go with all the others it's accrued already, which include being the fastest to earn basically every notable gross along the way to $400 million after having the biggest U.S. opening of all time, raking in $1 billion worldwide so far, and also vaulting over Toy Story 3 and Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest to become both Disney's highest-grossing film ever and the sixth highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S., period. Again, that was all accomplished in two weeks, suggesting it can and will continue to climb the chart, perhaps even close enough to begin nudging James Cameron, who will be all like, "I can't hear you because I'm at the bottom of the ocean! Yay fish!"
