Loosely based on writer-director Nijla Mu’min’s upbringing in Oakland, the new film Jinn follows Summer, a carefree 17-year-old black girl (Zoe Renee), whose world changes when her mother (Luke Cage’s Simone Missick) suddenly converts to Islam.
