The Go-Gos announce farewell tour with Best Coast and Kaya Stewart
Dig up some scrunchies and call up your best pals on your comically oversized pink rotary phone, because Rolling Stone reports that iconic ’80s girl group The Go-Gos are going on a summer tour. And they’re bringing their spiritual sister Bethany Cosentino, leader of quintessentially SoCal guitar pop band Best Coast, along for the trip. (Her bandmate, multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno, is invited too.)
This will reportedly be the last time The Go-Gos’ “classic” lineup—singer Belinda Carlisle, guitarist Jane Wiedlin, multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Caffey and drummer Gina Schock—will tour together, three decades after they broke through to become the first all-female band to play their own instruments and write their own material while at the same time topping the Billboard charts. “We feel so lucky and so grateful to have had the incredible support of our fans for so long. We can’t wait to get out on the road and give the people what they want: some loud, fast music and a great party!,” the band says in a press release.
