Alfie Allen is a villainous tech billionaire in The Institute season 2 trailer

It’s a good time to be a Stephen King fan. The Carrie TV show adaptation (which may extend beyond its first season if series creator and showrunner Mike Flanagan has his way) premieres this Wednesday on Prime Video, and next month, the mania will continue with the return of The Institute on MGM+. On Monday, MGM+ unveiled the trailer for season two of The Institute, based on Stephen King’s 2019 novel of the same name, and confirmed the sci-fi thriller series will be back with new episodes in November. Season two follows Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman) and the other kids with psychic powers who were kidnapped by the shadowy organization known as the Institute, which experiments on them under the guise of saving the world. After the events of season one, the Institute remains powerful, and they need real evidence so people will believe them for good. “Maybe the only way to destroy this is from the inside,” Luke suggests.

Game Of Thrones alum Alfie Allen also joins the new season as Nolan Reeves, “an eccentric European tech billionaire and one of the Institute’s financial backers with an ambitious agenda all his own,” Deadline reported back in February. Based on the trailer, the new bad guy will be directly interfering with Luke and Tim Jamieson’s (Ben Barnes) mission to fight for every kid who’s been taken or lost their family. The official logline reads: “In the wake of their climactic escape from Dennison, Luke and his friends search for a way to end the Institute for good. Meanwhile, The Director enlists a new ally, tech billionaire Nolan Reeves, to help him rebuild, and Sigsby’s life as a fugitive pushes her to seek a way back ‘in.'”

Season two of The Institute premieres on November 8 on MGM+. You can watch the official trailer below.
