While it’s easy to see The Intelligence is pulling from a garage-tinged, proto-punk sound, there’s nothing dated about the songs on Vintage Future. Coming out on In The Red on September 25, the record is an amalgam of classic sounds updated for the modern era. At times it’s easy to see the influence of Devo or The Stooges, but it even bares a passing resemblance to some of Denton, Texas’ garage-punk greats. The A.V. Club is streaming all of Vintage Future ahead of its release, so dive right in and let The Intelligence’s washed-out chords take hold.
