The Juggalos are marching on Washington

Generally speaking, Insane Clown Posse is not a political band (although you could make the case for the Republican National Convention as the Dark Carnival prophesied in Juggalo lore). But that’s about to change, as Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J are preparing to lead their painted army of sticky, stoned followers to the seat of American power itself. That’s right: The Juggalos are marching on Washington.

The news broke, appropriately enough, in The Detroit News, which quotes Juggalo general Violent J as telling his flock, “In 2017, the weekend of September 17th, we need you. We’re gonna do a fucking march on Washington. They call the Juggalo World a movement, right? Well, let’s move!” at what’s described as a “seminar”—presumably held right after the “I took a shitload of mushrooms and I’m stuck in a Porta-Potty. Now what?” workshop—at this year’s Gathering of the Juggalos.

The march is to protest the FBI’s classification of Juggalos as a “loosely organized hybrid gang,” which may not even be a thing anymore by next September, as ICP won their chance to appeal the feds’ 2011 report in an Ohio court last September. Gathering all the Juggalos in a group and letting their freak flags fly on the National Mall—or, as J puts it, “[explaining] to the world who the fuck we really are”—should put those fears to rest, though.

The day after the march, ICP will hold a picnic for fans followed by a “huge Juggalo concert” at Jiffy Lube Live, which sounds like one of those “Limp Bizkit at Sunoco”-style Facebook pranks, but is actually a real amphitheater in Bristow, Virginia, an upper-middle-class suburb of DC known mainly for its historic battlefields—for now.
