Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste

Up until now, we’ve only gotten a few little glimpses at Seth Rogen’s new Apple TV+ comedy The Studio—a teaser here, an Oscars-themed clip of Rogen flop-sweating in the direction of a couple of big-name guest stars there. Now, though, we’re finally getting a more extended look at the series, in which Rogen plays the newly appointed head of a movie studio whose day seems to revolve around a) worrying he’s fucking everything up and b) being told he’s fucking everything up, courtesy of the show’s first full trailer.

What follows is a pretty dedicated two minutes of people yelling at Rogen’s deeply insecure movie exec Matt Remick, in varying degrees of fury—ranging from mildly pissed-off (co-stars Chase Sui Wonders and Ike Barinholtz) to full-on-frothing-at-the-mouth enraged (Catherine O’Hara and Kathryn Hahn, whose shared, and very high-volume, presence in the show’s main cast is one of several reasons we’re pretty excited for it). The whole thing—which was co-written and directed by Rogen, putting himself front and center in a way he sometimes doesn’t for the many, many TV shows he’s worked on over the last few years—feels like a Hollywood-tinged anxiety dream. We’ll cop to some mild worries that the series might disappear into the winking celebrity cameo of it all, and there’s definitely at least a bit of that here. But there’s also time for at least a few solid jokes, including Remick listing off films he’d like his Continental Studios to emulate: “Rosemary’s Baby, or Annie Hall, or some great film that wasn’t directed by a pervert.”

The Studio debuts on Apple TV+ on March 26, releasing its first two episodes; the rest of its ten-episode run will arrive weekly on Wednesdays through May 21.
