Immortal rocker The Vampire Lestat drops first single, "Long Face"

Lestat de Lioncourt has teamed up with film composer Daniel Hart to deliver a Bowie-inspired rocker that will have fans screaming, "Yes, you may come in and bite me on the neck."

Immortal rocker The Vampire Lestat drops first single,

You’re never too old to release your first rock single, as proven by the Vampire Lestat, who turns 266 years young this November. It’s been quite a turbulent couple of hundred years for Brat Prince of the French Quarter, and that history is keenly felt in the new song from Lestat, “Long Face,” produced in conjunction with the series premiere of The Vampire Lestat, a.k.a. Interview With The Vampire season three, coming to AMC and AMC+ this summer.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, or should we say Vamp-entine’s Day (we probably shouldn’t), the single was written by Daniel Hart, who handles music on the series, and recorded by Lestate de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) himself. Evoking Bowie’s glam heyday of the 1970s, the single was meant to mirror the late-Ziggy Stardust’s chameleonic career.

“‘Long Face’ is the first song Daniel Hart ‘produced’ for my album,” Lestat said in a statement. “He decided early on to steal where he could from Bowie because he hasn’t had an original idea for five years now (is that his Green Knight score fading in the rear view?) As for Long Face, the bass should have walked down with the guitar at the end instead of pedaling on E. Predictable. Like everything Daniel Hart touches.”

Last year, AMC released a lyric video for an earlier version of the song on YouTube, and the official single is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon, with more songs from the fanged rocker arriving later this year. We don’t want to invite the wrath of an immortal rocker with a penchant for drinking blood, but would it kill Lestat to throw this on Bandcamp, too?
