The Watcher season 2 is a go at Netflix with Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale returning

Four years later, Netflix finally circles back to The Watcher. The horror-mystery show, created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, debuted on the streamer in October 2022 and was renewed for season two the following month. Since then, there was radio silence about the show’s return. Murphy and Brennan have kept busy in the intervening years, creating the massively successful Monster anthology series and somehow finding time to work on a script for a Glee revival. Now, Netflix has confirmed that The Watcher is in fact moving forward. Production on season two will begin this fall in New York, with Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale reprising their roles as Nora Brannock and Dean Brannock, respectively. Margo Martindale will reprise her role as nosy neighbor Maureen “Mo,” and Isabel Gravitt will return as Nora and Dean’s daughter, Ellie Brannock.

Season one followed the Brannock family as they moved into a seemingly perfect suburban home, only for their dream to become a nightmare when someone calling themself “The Watcher” started sending mysterious, unsettling letters and promising to continue surveilling their every move. As the seven episodes unfolded and tensions increased, everyone in town became a suspect. Initially billed as a limited series, the show is based on a New York Magazine article about a real-life family terrorized in Westfield, New Jersey. And, much like the show, the identity of the person behind the letters remains unmasked. As for the season two logline, Netflix is keeping that secret under wraps for now.
