The Weather Channel's graphics department isn't fucking around with its hurricane warnings this year

There’s a hurricane bearing down on the southeast coast of the U.S. right now, a prospect that would be scary at any time, but which is especially worrying in the wake of the deaths that happened the last time a major storm took its toll on American territory. When weather like this threatens to hit, though, there are many who are called to nobly serve: Volunteers. Medical professionals. The National Guard. TV graphics departments.

The latter—specifically, the one working for The Weather Channel—was clearly up for the task, though, having created a frankly jaw-dropping graphic that the channel has now used a few times, illustrating not just the sheer amount of damage abstract concepts like “six-foot-high water” can wreak, but also the clear extent to which they’re earning their paychecks:

Not only is the entire presentation absolutely badass looking, in a sort of CGI Moses way, but it’s the perfect antidote to anyone stubbornly insisting they can ride something like this out without following evacuation orders. Motherfuckers, there are fish swimming around in there!
