The Wiggles, Slipknot, and Death Grips make beautiful music together

Strange bedfellows aren’t uncommon in music. Since Aerosmith and Run-D.M.C. teamed up for “Walk This Way” in the mid-’80s, artists from disparate genres have found sanctuary in shared beats. All music is built upon the same components of rhythm, melody, and harmony, after all. Mashup artists like Girl Talk have made their careers on exploiting the common foundations that anchor songs from across the spectrum, but few pairings have been quite as strange as this.
You may know The Wiggles as an educational musical act you loved as a child. And you may know Slipknot as the gimmicky metal band that’s currently feuding with Nickelback. You’ve probably never imagined a world where both could coexist peacefully, but here we are. In a new video, Homeschool Dropouts have mashed together The Wiggles’ warmhearted ode to fruit salad with Slipknot’s “Psychosocial,” with a touch of Death Grips’ “Guillotine” tossed in for texture.
