The Wrestler, a new film directed by Darren Aronofsky, has won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. The movie stars Mickey Rourke as a professional wrestler attempting to make a comeback and co-stars Marissa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood.
At this point we should probably also mention that The Wrestler was written by Rob Siegel, a former editor of The Onion and a good friend to many on the staff of The A.V. Club. (But not a friend of Noel Murray, whom he has never met and who will be writing the review for us.) I speak for many when I say we're very proud of Rob today.
