The assignment been handed to Nic Pizzolatto, an acclaimed novelist (Galveston) and short-story writer, though his résumé beyond that is limited to a couple of episodes of The Killing and the upcoming TV series True Detectives with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
