TOO MUCH COFFEE MAN OPERA to debut in Portland, Oregon
Too Much Coffee Man Opera, an opera based on a comic book and strip character called, yes, Too Much Coffee Man, will make its debut tomorrow in Portland, Oregon. It is co-written by TMCM creator Shannon Wheeler (who also contributes "Postage Stamp Comics" to the print edition of this publication) and Damian Wilcox. The one-act opera will run for four performances between September 22 and 30th at Brunish Hall.
What's it all about? From the press release:
The opera details the tragedy of Too Much Coffee Man, a caffeine-addled everyman in love with his Barista. Trouble brews when Espresso Guy, a cynical opportunist, alos makes a play for the ambitious, but frustrated, young Barista.
It is billed as "the first opera inspired by a comic book," although rumors have floated for years that Joan Sutherland drew upon the Scarlet Witch for her interpretation of Lucrezia Borgia.
