Tory Lanez hospitalized after prison stabbing

Tory Lanez, the rapper who was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, has been hospitalized after being stabbed at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi. Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) was injured during an alleged altercation with a fellow inmate wielding a self-made shank, per The Los Angeles Times. Lanez was apparently rushed to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield via ambulance and is said to be in stable condition after sustaining non-life threatening injuries.

Little else is known about the stabbing at this time, including motive for the alleged attack. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed the incident in a statement to Rolling Stone, adding the stabbing occurred around 7:20 a.m. local time in one of the prison’s housing units. Per the outlet, an investigation is ongoing.

In 2023 Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot; he was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm; possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm; and negligent discharge of a firearm. Lanez denied shooting her, and has claimed he was wrongfully convicted. His claims of innocence have been supported by his family, fans, and even some of the rappers’ peers, like Drake

In January of this year, Megan was granted a five-year restraining order against Tory Lanez, who she claimed was still harassing her from behind bars. According to Variety, she accused Lanez of hiring third-party “bloggers” to defame her while he is in prison. (Megan is currently in litigation over a civil suit for defamation against YouTube blogger Milagro Gramz, who Megan’s team claims is a “paid surrogate” for Lanez.) “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it,” the Grammy winner reportedly said in her emotional restraining order testimony.
