When Netflix announced the premiere date for season two of The Get Down in February, it came with a fun, music-filled teaser that emphasized the show’s approach to hip-hop history. Now, the streaming service has released a full trailer for the new season, and it’s quite a bit darker than that last glimpse was. It’s also all based around a fake version of Behind The Music, with a narrator introducing the show’s characters and teasing their storylines. By the end of the clip, though, the narrator fades away and the music gets a bit more somber as it leans into the more dramatic side of The Get Down. After all, if achieving your dream of being a hip-hop superstar were easy, wouldn’t everybody do it?
The Get Down returns to Netflix on April 7.
