Mike Smith, a.k.a.

Mike Smith, best known as the Coke-bottle-glasses-wearing, kitty-loving star of Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault, per the CBC, citing Nova Scotian court records. On October 2, 2026, Smith was charged in provincial court for an alleged assault on December 30, 2017. Smith has since “stepped away” from his position as managing director of Trailer Park Boys, Inc., but the company “will not comment further on the case.” The show recently announced a 13th season debuting on the Trailer Park Boys+ streaming service. Smith’s character, “Bubbles,” is arguably the most recognizable and popular member of the main trio, which also includes John Paul Tremblay, who plays the black-haired rum-and-coke-swilling Julian, and Robb Wells as the ostensible series lead, Ricky.

Trailer Park Boys, Inc. posted a statement on the matter on the official Trailer Park Boys Instagram account. “We are aware of the allegations concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously,” the statement reads. “We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case. At this time, Mike has stepped away from his role at Trailer Park Boys Incorporated and [producer] Gary Howsam has assumed managing director responsibilities. We remain focused on delivering the long-awaited 13th season for our fans.”

The allegations came to light as the show prepared to launch its latest season in celebration of the show’s 25th anniversary. Trailer Park Boys has been running, on-and-off, since 2001. After seven seasons on the Canadian network Showcase, the show became a cult favorite worldwide but ended its initial run in 2007. In 2014, at the height of Netflix’s series-revival days, it relaunched the series for an additional five seasons. Since then, it’s appeared in various forms, including an animated series and an ungodly amount of spin-offs and sequels on Trailer Park Boys+. Late last year, Smith starred as Bubbles in the musical comedy ‌Standing On The Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles And The Shitrockers Story, and earlier this summer, the second season of Trailer Park Boys: Jail premiered on the streaming service. Season 13 is still set to debut next year.
