Verizon and T-Mobile are having a BDSM-themed Twitter fight
During the Super Bowl, Kristen Schaal appeared in a couple of T-Mobile ads that compared having Verizon as your wireless provider to being in some kind of Fifty Shades Of Grey-esque BDSM relationship:
It was the typical sort of cellphone company sniping you see on every other day of the year, but ramped up a bit for the sake of the Super Bowl. Rather than immediately getting to work on a counter-ad that picks apart T-Mobile’s claims, though, whoever runs Verizon’s social media pages jumped on Twitter and went to war:
T-Mobile CEO John Legere joined in, because that’s the sort of thing you do when your company’s entire advertising platform is built on talking about how you’re cool and your competitors are lame:
Verizon hit again, this time with a creative use of the “mouth zipped shut” emoji:
And Legere responded:
It’s unclear how far this thing will go, but maybe Verizon and T-Mobile should just get rid of this tension by putting their differences aside and having some kinky cellphone company sex.
