Ward off the encroaching darkness with a photo of Patrick Stewart and his new Star Trek writers
The world continues to be a very dark place, as the ongoing discussion of what level of alleged sexual assault is tolerable for a Supreme Court nominee can attest. And let’s not forget that we’re on the verge of another government shutdown if Congress can’t pass a crucial spending bill by September 30, because the GOP and the White House would rather continue to allocate a disproportionate amount of funds to the already bloated defense budget than support women’s medical health services.
But into even the most accursed existence a little light must fall, and today’s beacon comes courtesy of Patrick Stewart, acting legend and once-and-future captain of a starship (we hope). Stewart sees the depressing dispatches, and raises them this photo of himself from the writers room of his new Star Trek show—where there’s Perrier and Lacroix—in which he looks to the future (or a whiteboard) with a mix of optimism and “will we have the FX budget to pull that off?”
