Weekend Box Office
Miley Cyrus led the charge at the box office this weekend with Hannah Montana: The Movie, the highest-grossing of several high-grossing movies that propelled the box office to the biggest Easter numbers ever. The squeaky-clean Cyrus and her two squeaky-queen alter egos easily topped the charts with $34 million, with last week’s blockbuster Fast And Furious dropping 60 percent to a still-impressive No. 2 with $28.78 million. Those numbers put it past the $100 million mark in its second week. Monsters Vs. Aliens took a smaller, 30 percent dip to No. 3 with $22.62 million, ahead of newcomer Observe And Report, which debuted at No. 4 with $11.14 million.
Both Knowing and I Love You Man held up well in their fourth frames, dropping less than 20 percent each to No. 5 with $6.67 million and No. 6 with $6.41 million, respectively. The Haunting In Connecticut took the No. 7 spot with $5.71 million, ahead of Drgonball Evolution, which was pretty much a non-starter at No. 8 with $4.65 million in its opening week. Adventureland at No. 9 with $3.43 million and Duplicity at No. 10 with $3 million round out the top 10.
