Austin Abrams is fish food in the latest trailer for Whalefall

Of all the upcoming Josh Brolin movies, only one, thus far, purports to be set from the belly of a beast. The upcoming water-based thriller Whalefall does just that, following a young SCUBA diver (played by Weapons‘ Austin Abrams) as he’s swallowed by a whale and fights to survive with only an hour of air. Living out Ahab’s dream and demise, he uses his father’s (Brolin) lessons to escape the leviathan. The new trailer, released earlier today, offers viewers a glimpse from inside the whale’s stomach and a taste of Pinocchio and Jonah’s bane. Perhaps most surprisingly for those who aren’t experts on sperm whales, the effects are akin to the bioluminescence in Avatar: The Way Of Water. However, this ain’t Payakhun and Abrams is no Lo’ak. Claustrophobics, you’ve been warned.

Whalefall opens in theaters on October 16.
