What's on TV this week—Bait, The Comeback, and Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, March 22 to Saturday, March 28. All times are Eastern.

New this week

Bait (Prime Video, Wednesday, 3 a.m., series premiere)

Written by and starring Riz Ahmed, this series finds the Oscar winner portraying a British-Pakistani actor whose professional stagnancy and days of getting mistaken for Dev Patel are upturned when he lands a life-changing audition to play James Bond. His potential career success prompts an existential crisis, which spirals over four frenetic days. Look for The A.V. Club’s review on Tuesday.

The Comeback (HBO, Sunday, 10:33 p.m., season three premiere)

More than a decade after we last caught up with her delightfully desperate bids at relevancy, sitcom actor Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow) is back for more in the third and final season of HBO’s showbiz satire. Val excitingly has a new acting gig, but this time it’s on a multi-cam comedy entirely penned by AI, thrusting the out-of-touch performer into an entertainment landscape dominated by streaming wars and striking writers. The A.V. Club will recap the show each week.

Daredevil: Born Again (Disney+, Tuesday, 9 p.m., season two premiere)

Charlie Cox is donning the Daredevil mask again for the second round of this revival series, in which the blind lawyer-turned-vigilante Matt Murdock gathers allies to combat New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Season two promises the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, as well as cast additions like Matthew Lillard and Lili Taylor. The A.V. Club will recap the show.

Saturday Night Live UK (Peacock, Sunday, 6 a.m., series premiere)

Live from…where? Yes, the sketch-comedy juggernaut hops across he pond to launch a new edition this week. Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, and Celeste Dring help make up the cast, and the variety show’s premiere welcomes Tina Fey as host and indie-rock outfit Wet Leg as musical guest.

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen (Netflix, Thursday, 3 a.m., miniseries premiere)

It’s the final countdown to the wedding of Rachel (Camila Morrone) and Nicky (Adam DiMarco). But instead of feeling down-the-aisle excitement, the bride is consumed by unease thanks to some eerie coincidences and odd behavior by her future in-laws (played by Jennifer Jason Leigh and Ted Levine). The A.V. Club’s review publishes on Thursday.
