Will Ferrell in talks to play Russ Meyer in upcoming Meyer/Ebert biopic

In a delightful development for fans of Will Ferrell and/or boobs, Deadline reports that Ferrell is in talks to play America’s poet laureate of pneumatic protuberances Russ Meyer. Ol’ Uncle Russ is considered the godfather of nudie movies, having basically invented the genre with 1959’s The Immoral Mr. Teas. He was also a great friend of Roger Ebert, who wrote the screenplay for Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls as a fledgling young film critic and went on to pen three more movies for Meyer (as well as win a bunch of Pulitzer Prizes and stuff).

Meyer and Ebert’s breast-obsessed friendship will be celebrated in the upcoming biopic Russ & Roger Go Beyond, written by Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons writer Christopher Cluess. Ferrell has yet to make a commitment, but if he does, his participation will lend Russ & Roger Go Beyond some much-needed star power. (The indie project is currently without a studio or director, although big names—including Edgar Wright—are reportedly interested.) No casting announcement has been made for the part of Roger Ebert, so speculate away.
