Will Smith does gotta cuss in his raps these days
Once, in the early days of the Willennium, Eminem rightly observed that Will Smith don't got to cuss in his raps to sell records. But if Smith really is intent on making a hip-hop comeback, he'll definitely find that the game has changed, and that it's no longer enough to pick rap beefs with aliens or mad scientists, or capture the gritty realism of how much fun it is to dance in Miami. And so it was a slightly more hardcore, Even Bigger Willie who dropped this freestyle at Gabrielle Union's 40th birthday party before moving on to "Summertime," slipping a couple of N-words and B-words over a Doug E. Fresh beatbox that would have seen the Fresh Prince of yore sent packing to be straightened out by his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air. If Smith really does make good on his promise to—as he asserts here—pause from making the Hollywood sign read "Willywood" to get back into hip-hop, we could well be looking at his Funky Headhunter phase. Consider yourselves warned, aliens. [via The Daily What]
