For at least a couple of years, social media users have been joking about “recession core,” suggesting that there are fashion and media trends that go hand in hand with economic strife. The jury is still out on whether this holds any truth, but the new trailer for Apple TV+’s Your Friends & Neighbors is a big mark in favor of the trend’s existence.

The new trailer sees Jon Hamm, a recently fired white-collar worker who needs to come up with something quick to make ends meet. His solution? Rob the other McMansions in his neighborhood and sell his friends and neighbors’ belongings. “I’ve been thinking, these houses have all this stuff no one would miss for a while, if ever,” Hamm’s Andrew “Coop” Cooper says in a voiceover. (He lost his inner monologue around the same time he lost his wife, he tells us elsewhere.) Cut to a montage of Coop robbing houses while, hilariously, wearing a Criterion branded baseball cap. The clip lands somewhere in the neighborhood of The Bling Ring and The Joneses, and it might land Coop in big trouble.

Also featuring performances from Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, and Mark Tallman, Your Friends & Neighbors has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere. The first two episodes release on Friday, April 11, followed by one new episode weekly through May 30. Your Friends & Neighbors was created by Jonathan Tropper, and Hamm also executive produces the series.
