10 Cloverfield Lane director makes death-defying leap over to Uncharted movie
Despite the fact that the games center on a wise-cracking Indiana Jones-knockoff who epitomized the idea of a “Chris Pratt-type” long before that was a thing, Hollywood has had a surprising amount of trouble turning Uncharted into a movie. Multiple attempts have been made, with Mark Wahlberg once set to star until Night At The Museum’s Shawn Levy replaced David O. Russell as the director, and the last we heard was that Sony was so happy with Tom Holland’s work as Spider-Man that the studio had convinced Levy to rework the film into an Uncharted origin story about a young, up-and-coming Indiana Jones-knockoff with Holland in the lead. That was years ago, and now Levy has had to drop out of the project due to the ever-reliable excuse of “scheduling conflicts.”
