The blurst of times continues in new trailer for A Tale Of Two Cities

The winter of our despair continues in the trailer for the new version of Charles Dickens’ A Tale Of Two Cities. Typically the stuff of Masterpiece Theater, this co-production with the BBC will be slumming it on the newish streaming service MGM+, which is owned by Amazon but isn’t Prime Video. Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harrington stars as Sydney Carton, the unpredictable young barrister charged with defending Charles Darnay (François Civil), a messenger arrested for treason after bringing word to Lucie Manette (Mirren Mack) that her long-thought-dead father was still alive. Lucie hires Sydney in hopes that Darnay can lead them to dear dad but starts a love triangle that results in all that best of times, worst of times stuff. Frankly, this should come as no surprise to the esteemed readers of The A.V. Club, who no doubt stayed awake in A.P. English long enough to get the gist of Dickens’ revolutionary novel.
