ABC introduces The Second Fattest Housewife In Westport, who isn’t even that fat
Employing a strategy to make its titles so long that viewers with digital cable guides must click on them just to read the full name, ABC has bought a family comedy called The Second Fattest Housewife In Westport, according to Deadline.
Written by novelist/TV writer Sarah Dunn (Bunheads), the show follows “a (slightly) larger wife and mother raising her flawed family of three in a wealthy town filled with ‘perfect’ wives and their ‘perfect’ offspring.” Why the show can’t have a lead character that is normally large, especially given the premise, is anyone’s guess; perhaps such a qualifier is reserved for the first fattest housewife in Westport, or maybe ABC is just afraid of showing a lead actress who looks like a normal person.
The show will be produced by Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment, whose other ABC show, Monstropolis, was recently ordered to series. That one is about characters who are (slightly) monsters, being (slightly) killed off by an unknown assailant. As far as we know, though, all of them are skinny.
