Brody, who plays rabbi Noah Roklov opposite Kristen Bell’s agnostic podcaster in Netflix’s series Nobody Wants This, now wants everybody to know that he is for a “free Palestine.” “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” Brody stated said unequivocally. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago… I’m not trying to plead ignorance—here we are doing a political interview, so it makes sense that we wade into this territory—but I’ve never ducked a question, really, not a political question anyway.”
The actor, a longtime Democrat and voting rights advocate, noted that he’s not generally one to put his politics front and center in celebrity appearances, although the issue comes up “a lot” in his private life. Continuing, Brody stated, “I just answer the questions I’m asked. And it’s true. I’m not wearing a pin, so I’m not inviting a certain question, and perhaps I should. I really admire people who do.”
Brody, who’s also not on any social media, defended his usual code of silence, stating, “I think being off social media has been the healthiest thing. I’m forced to use a lot of tools and products where I don’t believe in the heads of those companies, but I’m sure as shit not going to be on anything that Elon Musk is a part of.”
The third season of Nobody Wants This premieres October 22 on Netflix.
