New X-Men movie gets release date, cast list, Evil Adam Driver

That included the already known Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, plus Heartstopper‘s Kit Connor as Cyclops. But we also got confirmations on a whole bunch of what was until this weekend speculation, including the rumored Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Obsession star Inde Navarrette as Rogue—plus Broadway star Maya Boyd, a new name in the mix, as Marvel’s latest version of Storm. 

But while we’re all for Disney going with a (relatively) young cast of new mutants—not to be confused with The New Mutants—the company also knows you have to balance that with a heavy hitter of a bad guy. To that end, Feige dialed in Adam Driver for a video appearance to reveal that he was playing the new version of Mister Sinister, the long-running geneticist bad guy who’s always up to stuff like trying to steal super-powered mutant babies so he can copy their incredible abilities. Sinister’s powerset can be kind of variable, but the key thing to know is that he’s an endlessly smug and scheming jackass; if you’d asked us yesterday who’d make a good “Sneering Victorian mad scientist who broods about stealing the X-Men’s genes,” we don’t know that we would have immediately jumped to Driver, but it’s hard to deny it now that it’s out there.

Of course, we’ll be able to see all of that for ourselves on May 5, 2028, which is when Schreier’s X-Men is now set to have its debut.
