Marvel Studios' hunt for Cyclops lands on Kit Connor

Now he can add saying, “To me, my X-Men” to his to-do list. Cyclops is, of course, a natural-born leader with an ability to emit powerful optic blasts from his eyes. James Marsden and Tye Sheridan have previously portrayed the character in four X-Men movies each, and Marsden will return in this year’s Avengers: Doomsday as well. Most recently, Cooper Hoffman was rumored to have gotten the part, although he refuted those claims. Task‘s Tom Pelphrey, IT’s Bill Skarsgard, and Outer Banks‘ Drew Starkey were other names making the rounds. 

It makes sense, though, that Connor was picked to star alongside—spoiler alert—Sadie Sink, whose role as Jean Grey was recently revealed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. As comic book readers know, Scott and Jean are primary love interests, although Scott has linked up with Emma Frost as well. And just last week, Samara Weaving was cast to play the chilling telepath. 

The cast for Schreier’s X-Men film is shaping up nicely, with rumors that Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny could be playing Beast and Rogue, respectively. Melton and Spaeny recently co-starred in Beef season two, with Schreier directing a couple of those episodes. 

It’s still TBD on who is playing Storm, Professor Xavier, Magneto, or what mutants might even pop up in this movie. But the casting updates at least indicated that the MCU will release an X-Men movie in 2028. Until then, we have Disney+’s X-Men ’97 for company.
