Here at The A.V. Club, we believe that it is our duty to warn people about the dangers of memorializing celebrities with bronze statues. Just within the last few years, we’ve seen Lucille Ball, Kurt Cobain, and Anton Yelchin (not to mention Cristiano Ronaldo and Brandi Chastain, who are still alive) disrespected with truly awful statues, busts, and plaques, but the people in charge of this sort of thing never seem to realize that recreating a famous person’s face with bronze is always a bad idea. That being said, there’s an exception to every rule, and the exception this time around is the statue of Chris Cornell that was just unveiled outside Seattle’s Museum Of Pop Culture.
