Game over, man: Alien: Earth lands this August

The poor souls stuck cleaning up Weyland-Yutani’s various profit-seeking messes are in for it this time. Alien: Earth, the new series from Fargo‘s Noah Hawley based on the Alien mythos, is arriving on terrestrial television this summer. Announced ahead the Disney Upfronts presentation today, Alien: Earth will hatch on August 12.

Set 100 years from now, Alien: Earth occurs between Alien Covenant and 1979’s Alien in 2120 on our little blue marble, now run by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. When a spacecraft crashes to Earth carrying some drooling, face-hugging cargo, one brave corporation sends a ragtag team of soldiers led by Sydney Chandler’s Wendy to square off against the universe’s most perfect killing machines. Making matters worse, the series has hinted at new creatures crawling out of the ship. Alien: Earth‘s first teaser trailer teased five monsters from the darkest reaches of the universe, each one a “unique deadly species.”

Five creatures, chosen to live in a spaceship? We’re about to find out what happens when Aliens stop being polite and start getting real. Alien: Earth will air on FX, stream on Hulu, and premiere on August 12. You can check out some new images from the series below.
