Alpha 5 rocks a crop top in new Power Rangers photos
The upcoming Power Rangers movie is already an adaptation of a series that a lot of fans associate with the ’90s, but the people behind the film’s slightly bizarre aesthetic aren’t stopping their nostalgic nods there. If some new photos are anything to go by, Power Rangers will also have some ’90s-inspired styling cues for us to enjoy as well.
Thanks to IGN, we have our very first look at Bill Hader’s Alpha 5, the whiny robot that helps Zordon (Bryan Cranston) support the Rangers. Unlike the original Alpha 5 from the TV show, who had a big lightning bolt on his plastic chest, this one is wearing a stylish crop top that highlights his robot belly. If we didn’t know any better, we’d say he had just leapt out of an old Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera video!
IGN also has a shot from Alpha 5’s back, which allows us to see his very flat robot butt. We don’t remember the original Alpha 5 doing much sitting, so he didn’t really need a butt area, but maybe this indicates that the movie will have a scene where the new Alpha 5 sits on a chair backwards and “raps” with the kids about what it means to be a hero.
