Amy Winehouse’s neighborhood is putting up a statue in her honor

London’s Camden Town neighborhood will soon unveil a statue to memorialize the late singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, who died three years ago at the age of 27. According to the Telegraph, the brass, life-sized statue will be placed in Camden Market, amid its various shops, restaurants, and street performers.

The statue depicts Winehouse in her signature beehive hairstyle, leaning idly on a wall. It’s unclear whether the statue also captures the singer’s equally signature eyeliner and many tattoos.

According to the Camden New Journal, part of the idea for the placement of Winehouse’s statue is to divert fans away from the location of her former home, which is in a quiet, residential neighborhood. City planners also considered placing it in front of the Roundhouse concert hall, before finally deciding on the market.

Winehouse’s statue will be unveiled on September 14, which would have been her 31st birthday.
