Jimmy Kimmel also punts interview with Texas candidate James Talarico to YouTube

It has been fairly standard for decades for political candidates to appear on late night talk shows, but “for some reason, and I can’t seem to figure out what that reason is, something has changed now that he is president,” says Kimmel. “His FCC has threatened me, threatened our show, threatened our network, ABC, our affiliates, our local stations — based on simple, traditional editorial decisions, guest bookings it would seem they don’t like.” ABC has been getting the brunt of this lately, with the FCC threatening to pull the network’s broadcast licenses and poking around at its other shows, like The View. 

A similar situation happened with Talarico less than seven months ago when he appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. That time, however, it sounded more like CBS panicked at the last second and punted the interview—a decision that Colbert himself denounced. Of course, CBS is owned by Paramount, and while ABC owner Disney hasn’t been the best model of standing up to Donald Trump’s minions (especially where Kimmel is involved), it sounds like they at least handled it marginally better than the Ellison-owned corporation. Kimmel’s interview with Talarico is expected to be on YouTube at some point tonight.
