Apple bans issue of Brian K. Vaughan's Saga because of bukkake robot face
After removing Joe Casey’s Sex #1 from their iOS apps last month, due to its explicit depiction of female-on-female cunnilingus, Apple is continuing to cull its digital bookstores of any comics containing overtly graphic sexual content. And so, because of two panels depicting oral sex on Prince Robot IV’s television monitor head, this week’s issue of Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples’ critically acclaimed, fan-favorite sci-fi series Saga won’t be available for digital purchase on Apple devices. In a press release issued earlier today, Vaughan lamented the decision to remove the comic because of “two postage stamp-sized images of gay sex,” while adding, “We’re not changing shit”—because if Brian K. Vaughan puts three dicks ejaculating on a person’s face in his comic, it’s there for a reason. Digital readers who want access to Saga #12 can buy it directly through Image, or they can go to a comic book store and buy a physical copy with actual ink printed on real paper. Because giant rotting testicles and issue after issue of horrific violence may be cool with Apple, but bukkake is one step over the line.
