Though the Oscar nominations were revealed last week, there are still a handful of other award shows on the horizon. Among the biggest remaining are the BAFTA Film Awards, which unveiled its slate of nominees early this morning. As at the Oscars, One Battle After Another and Sinners led the charge, though their positions were swapped; Paul Thomas Anderson’s film led the list this morning with 14 nominations, while Ryan Coogler’s followed behind with 13. Both Marty Supreme and Hamnet performed quite well, too, with each film picking up 11 nods. Sentimental Value and Frankenstein both scooped up eight nods, each, as well.
But being a British award show, the BAFTAs get to give some attention to some films that aren’t the kind that would necessarily get attention at a major ceremony in the states. Here’s looking at you, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy and 28 Years Later, both of which were nominated for Outstanding British Film. Pillion, which opens in the States next month, scooped three nominations, as did The Ballad Of Wallis Island (which appears to have made some in the British press quite happy).
The 2026 BAFTA Awards will happen on February 22, when they may or may not remind us that Angela Bassett did the thing. In the meantime, you can read the full list of nominees below.
