Carey Mulligan and Oscar Isaac's relationship looks awful in this new Beef trailer

We already knew from the last Beef teaser that Ashley Miller (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Charles Melton) were going to see more than they were supposed to of their bosses Joshua Martín (Oscar Isaac) and Lindsay Crane-Martín’s (Carey Mulligan) relationship. But the latest trailer for the Netflix hit makes it clear that Joshua and Lindsay were never especially good at hiding their dysfunction. The clip opens with Lindsay and Ashley drinking some bubbly wine out of paper cups on the side of the road and Lindsay confesses: “I think deep down we both knew it was a temporary band-aid.” This was in response to a question about whether she and Joshua were happily married.

But just because Ashley and Austin see Joshua and Lindsay nearly come to blows doesn’t mean the couple is actually planning to end anything. The trailer seems to suggest that the titular beef could exist as much between the two couples as it exists within them. As Ashley says toward the clip’s end, “Don’t people say you shouldn’t be looking for the right person, but the right wrong person?”

Beef returns to Netflix with eight episodes on April 16. You can check out some new photos from the season below.
