Ben Affleck won't be in The Great Gatsby after all
In news unfortunately timed to make it look like an open rejection of Isla Fisher, Deadline reports that there’s no way that Ben Affleck will be able to play Tom Buchanan in The Great Gatsby. That’s because he’ll be too busy directing Argo, a very serious film about the very serious 1979 Iranian hostage crisis, to engage in Jazz Age jocularity with Fisher, Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire. So the hunt is on now for a replacement Tom, with Luhrmann rumored to be looking for Australian actors—because they’re cheaper. This could be your moment to shine, Mark “Jacko” Jackson.
