Betty White Close to Hosting Saturday Night Live With Female SNL Alums
If you are among the massive force of over 400,000 who are wielding the powers of Facebook fandom to demand a Saturday Night Live hosting slot for Betty White, the powers at NBC seem to be heeding your prayers. According to Entertainment Weekly’s The Ausiello Files blog, sources at the network say the former Golden Girls actress is very close to landing her first gig as SNL host.
Ausiello reports that White would not be helming the episode by herself. In what NBC is titling the “Women Of Comedy” special, White would appear alongside some of the most popular SNL actresses of recent memory, namely Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Molly Shannon.
For an 88-year old, White has been pretty busy recently, co-starring in the Sandra Bullock vehicle The Proposal, accepting a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild, and stealing a Snickers Super Bowl commercial.
