The new trailer for A Very Murray Christmas gives us a bit more footage than the teaser, but since the teaser only showed Murray glumly staring out the window at the New York City skyline, that isn’t saying much. This new 30-second spot for the Netflix holiday special is basically a roll call for the celebrities who will be joining Murray for “the greatest night in history,” including George Clooney, Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Rashida Jones, Miley Cyrus, and of course the band Phoenix (this was directed by Sofia Coppola, after all). Apparently, all of these folks congregate at the Carlyle in New York, which is like a Hilton for people who are worth millions of dollars. There also are shots of champagne, a flaccid wedding cake, and some joyous hugging, but we can’t make any sense out of the story. Not that coherence matters—anyone who says they’ll be watching this sober is a liar.
A Very Murray Christmas will begin streaming on December 4. The holiday season can only go downhill from there.
