Robert Pattinson praises

The Caped Crusader has nothing but positive things to say about the “incredibly generous” Stephen Soderbergh, who swooped in to save The Batman: Part II after director Matt Reeves paused principal photography earlier this month. “I am so happy he’s come on to help Matt,” Robert Pattinson tells GamesRadar. “It’s incredibly generous of him—and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless.” Pattinson continues, “For someone to come in and say, ‘I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.’ And to have someone who’s as talented as Steven doing it is great.”

After years of setbacks and delays, The Batman II finally started shooting in London earlier this summer. However, the long-awaited superhero sequel took an unexpected temporary pause in early October, when DC Studios announced director and co-writer Matt Reeves needed to leave the shoot to tend to an undisclosed family matter. DC publicly supported the filmmaker and welcomed a new director and close friend of Reeves, Stephen Soderbergh, to finish the movie. Pattison says “we’re almost done,” believing “they’re in production already,” and he’ll be suiting up in “a couple of days.”

For his part, Reeves has not been replaced as director, nor is he leaving the production entirely. “I’m not leaving The Batman Part II,” Reeves wrote on X. “I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes.” DC lead James Gunn clarified further, writing on Threads, “Matt is still the director of The Batman 2 and always will be. “I can’t express how profoundly grateful and moved we are by Steven’s offer to help him complete his vision.”
